QUEENSLAND NATIONAL BANK. The Queensland National Bank has come through its troubles remarkably well. Five years ago its shares were marketed at 76.; now they are not to bo bought under 4Cs. The improve:! position is shown by tho way in which the bank has reduced its liability, to the Queensland Government. On December 31. 1905, tho amount owing the State under deferred payments was .-51.29t.400. Now that debt stands at only £544.391. Net profics then amounted to £22.307 for the half-year, whereas, for <,he nast six montli6, they wore £46.174. The bnnk has been realising the securities which it held as a legacy from bad times. Consequently tho "private ledger accounts" show a. reduction in the five years from £?<5,579 to £141463. With th<* good times the volume of tho business of the institution has so increased as to lead the Audi-tor-General for Queensland 'Mr. T. W.
