PALMERSTON MATCH. Saturday (says our Palmerston correspondent) was anything but a nice day for cricket here, a cold easterly wind making things most uncomfortable for players. The only game which took placo at the sports ground was that for tho championship between the Manawatu Club team and the High School Old Boys. The. former batted first and put on 2!)8— D. Moore 82, Goring-Johnston 47, A. Barraud 33, E. Abraham 28, P. Sim (not out) 18, E. Abraham 18, Jounncaux 14, Adams 10. When stumps were drawn for the dav Old Boys had lest three wickets for 27, Eglintcn (not out) 12, Reed (not out) 12. A cricket match was played at Porirua on Saturday between teams representing tho Mental Hospital attendants and Biug. Harris and Cp. The latter team obtained the victory by five runs. Bing, Harris and Co., batting first, compiled 53 runs (Stephenson 21, Murphy 15). C. Morgan captured seven wickets for 13 runs, and Bolton three for 3G. Porirua made 4S (Bolton 0 not out). Carruthers achieved the hat trick, and took six wickets for 21; Stephenson took four for 23. The visitors were hospitably entertained by the Mental Hospital team. Cricketers should not fail to &>e the stock of cricket requisites at Laws and Manning's, Courtcnay Place.*
