SON'S PATHETIC RECITAL. [By Telegraph.—Press Associations Ashburton, March 3. Ail inquest concorning tho death of William Brown, whose body was found in tlio Pomain Swimming Baths yesterday morning, was held to-day, before Mr. Day, S.M., coroner. William Brown, son of deceased, said his father had been drinking of late. Ho heard his father get up about four, o'clock in the morning, and as ho did not return he went in search. Passing by tlio Domain Swimming Bath, ho saw his father's cap, and found it was 011 his father's head, the body being upright in deep water. Ho tried to raiso the body, but failed. He went for assistance, and got the body out. His father had financial and other troubles, but ho knew of 110 reason why he should commit suicide. After hearing further evidence tlio coroner returned a verdict of found drowned. A FALL OF 40 FEET. Auckland, March 3. A man 'named M'Grath, employed as a plasterer 011 tlio Strand Arcado, Queen Street, had a narrow escape this afternoon. Working on the top story, ho slipped and fell about 40 feet on to the' iirst floor. Fortunately 110 landed 011 a board arrangement about which there was a good deal of spring, and sp escaped serious injury. He was conveyed in the ambulance to the Hospital, and it is thought liis injuries do not amount to anything moro serious than several broken ribs. FATALITY AT UPPER HUTT. ' Inspector Ellison received a telephone message from Upper Hutt yesterday, stating that a man named Colpithes, G6 years of age, had been found dead in bed at the residenbe of_Mr. William Gill. The City Coroner (Dr. M'Arthur) was to hold an inquest in the afternoon. • ' CHILD'S FATAL ACT. Invcrcarglll, March 3. The sixteen-months-old child of Sydney Herbert West swallowed a num.ber of pills, which he obtained from a box, aud died from the effects.
