PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING. Last evening a committee meeting of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held, these present being: Commodore.'Mr. C. J. Ward (in the cimir). Hoar-Commodore Mr. 11. Chisliolm, and Messrs. H. Scott, .T. Kelly, V. Cooke, 0. Freyberg, and V the secretary, Mr. F. 0. Tattle. It was decided that, for all future races, the handicapper should frame his handicaps as i'ov all yachts in each class. The club proposes holding a concert at Day's liny early this month. OCEAN RACK. On Saturday next tlio first big ocean race under the auspices of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club will be held. The. course will be from- the Clvde Quay Wharito Guards Cove '(Ivaknpn IMyj, Part Underwood, and back, a total distance of 100 miles. It is reported that Mr. Jackson has donated a trophy to the value of ,£'_> 25.. fnr the .second yacht to finish on lime allowance. The first prize is a silver cup, valued at .£lO Ids., and presented by an anonymous donor. There is alsn a trophy for the fir.-t yacht home. No harbour races will be held on' Saturday on account of the oce-in race. The race will commence at '2 p.m. Tlio following entries have been received — Mahim (liters. W. and P. Moore), Siren (11. C'liislioliii), Ngaira (A. Lancaster). Vikimr (C. Headland), Windward (Messrs. K. Millmaii and r\ Cooke), lolanthe (.1. Kelly), and Whito Heather (Messrs. G. Hoggard and 13. Donne). The yachts will round M.r. Jackson's launch Taniwha, which will be anchored in the Cove.
