An effort has been made to show Mr. Taft the hopelessness of calling a now Congressional session to consider tlio reciprocity agreement with Canada by inducing tho Senate to take, a preliminary vote on reciprocity, ami thus- demonstrate that body's overwhelming hostility to tho proposal. Mr. Taft is not convinced, and has renewed his determination to call a session, declaring that he must have the Senate's well-considered pronouncement.

"ALMOST UNANIMOUS SUPPORT." POSITION AT OTTAWA. ' (Eec. March 1, 0.50 a.m.) Ottawa, February 28. A vote on the Reciprocity Bill is Hot expected in the Canadian House till tho end of tho week, or perhaps t'no week following. Tho Government is sure of the party's almost unanimous support.
