THE COAL VEND.
PROTEST AGAINST DISSOLUTION. jy Toletrarh-Press Assodation-fiopyrißhi. Sydney, February 28. A meeting of the Northern colliery proprietors discussed tho question of the dissolution of the Coal Vend,, -~.. Mr. Eddeu, Minister for ijinos, 'states that although ho believes the object of tho pending prosecutions by tho'Federal Government is to crush the Vend, it is hoped dissolution will not be' troughl about. It is questionable, he says, if tho collieries at Newcastle would be ablo to carry on properly without an agreement on tho selling rate, and ho doubted the wisdom of a reduced selling rato as . a means to winning back trade. He thinks tho proprietors would have lost their reason if they again reduced the selling price to 7s. 6d. a ton.
