The Government has appointed Mr Evan Parry, electrical engineer, of London, as engineer in charge of the hydroelectrical worKs about to,bo carried out by the State, Mr. i'arry was appointed:-'■• out of 197 applicants in England and. IB in ' JNew Zealand. ..; . .., .:. ~/■ . In order to make a selection out of the ' English applications,' the High Commissioner was instructed to associate hiiii-! self with Sir Wm. Preece (ex-i,ngineer-• in-Charge of Telegrapli3 in: England). luhis atetneo, the eiectrical adviser to the. Hoard of Trade acted with Sir Win. Hall- ■: Jones. Tho selectors interviewed variouscandidates, and eventually recommendedMr. Tarry. This gentleman is AV years of age, and occupies a high in his profession. He has had wide expert- ' enco in hydro-electrical undertakings and-: iu the preparations of plans, and he ia now associated with Dr. Horace Parshall; consulting engineer. . ■'• . ■-■: '.;'■';■.-.'
