THE-FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly mealing of f ho City Council was held Inst evening, tlfe Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford) presiding. Also liresent were Councillors Morrali, Shirteliffe, Carmicbncl, Fitzgerald, Barber, Thompson, Atkinson, Trevor, Iliridmarsh, Frost, Cohen, Smith, nml I.uke. .'Leave of absence was granted Councillors M'Laren and Fletcher. Finance, arid Property., . . ... • The Finance and Property Committee recommended that. Sections -8 .9," 10; 11,' 12. 11, 15,' and 17, with frontage to Adelaide Rbad and Gibbon Street, old tramway shed site, be put up for sale, by auc-. tion, the reserve to be fixed by the City Valuer. That a section of land at Adelaide Road, upon which.a deposit was paid, in 1906, the balance not' bong forthcoming, bo put (in for 6»le by auction, the reserve to bo the present value of the section.. 'That the City Engineer bo. authorised to proceed with necessary works at,the steps from Ohiro Koad to Maarama Crescent. .That Overtoun Terrace bs snivelled. ..That the proposal to'erect steps nt Mr. Gibb's property nt Gcldie's Brae, ,in exchange for the of land, required for the Wadestown tramway,' be. agreed to.—Adopted. ' Power and Lighting. ' The Power Stations and Tramways Committee recommendod:—That; two additional automatic point controllers be-pur-chased, as recommended by .the Electrical Thiit the lighting mains l>e extended >to the Moraingtnn Estnte. on the conditions recommended by the Electrical Engineer.—Adopted. Baths arid' Reserves. ". The Biths and City Reserves Committee recommended:—That the City Engineer bs instructed to erect a sufficient number of lockers at the,-men's dressiris-shed at Kelburne Park, and also that a rental of 2s. 6d. per season be charged for the use of same; the fees to bo collected Jo the custodian of the park. That thts | City Engineer bo instructed to erect turnstiles leading on to.'the Town Belt from i Meiu Street, Seddon Terrace,, Sutherland Road,.and Coromandel Street. That permission be granted to the .Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A. Swimming Association, on. behalf of .the Swifts Club Ladies' Branch, to conduct their, carnival in tho ladies' baths on Saturday, March 4, on the usual conditions. ; , That, the Sydney Zoological Society ,be presented with two thar from the Zoo.—Adopted. .
