FIRE ALARMS.
HELPING SUBURBAN BRIGADES. At the meeting of tlio City Council Inst evening, Councillor Hindmarsh moved: "That tlio fire alarms conneclcd with tho Adelaide Rood Fire Station bo forthwith installed in the private houses .of seven firemen who wore members of the Island Bay Volunteer Tire Brigade." Supporting his lnolion, Councillor Ilihdmarsn stated that , the men in whose houses it ivas' proposed . to . instal the alarms wero permanent members of tho. lire brigade. Councillor Fitzgerald thought that, as these men wero carrying out their obligations as citiaehs, every possible encouragement should be given them,. The Mayor suggested that tho matter should be held over pending rewipt rif a renort which was shortly to bo mrtde by Superintendent O'Brien to the Fire Brigade Committee. Councillor Trevor, chairman of the committee, stated that it was considering tho matter of expending .C4O or .CSD in improving tlie facilities of tho Island Bay brigade,,.
