Josjah : Thomas (Federal Postmaster-General) to give effect to the report of the Postal Commission regarding assistants. It also asked for some modified examination for those performing duties which were not exclusively clerical. t Other requests .included one to the ef- ' feet that a maximum salary be paid after twenty years' service. Mr. Thomas, in promising consideration of the requests, declared he thought the !' examination should be made stiffor, in , order to get tho most efficient service later. P The Victorian Post and Telegraph Association also interviewed Mr. Thomas with respect to the grading of members of the association, and accented an invilation to formulate a scheme to. b« f considered in conjunction,with that being ' deviled by the Depnty-Postniastcr-Gcoeral.
