A CONTRADICTION. Regarding the article published on Friday.- February 17, and taken from, tho "Grcymouth Star" concemine the complaint by shipping agents in regard to the alleged non-reporting ol tho . Blackball Company's steamer Ngahere recently by tho Cape Fowlwind ltehthouse-koeper. Mr. Geo. Allnort. Becrctar.v of Marine, told a Dominion rejortcr .yesterday, that the facta of the case have been' wrongly stated. Mr. Allport has just returned from a visit of inspection to tho southern lighthouses, and, when visiting Cape Fowlwind recently, made inquiries, and found that the Ngahcro passed and was seen by tho keeper, but. when thoso e> board were rcnucstcd to furnish tho vowel a name, thero was no response, although the keeper endeavoured for half an hour to attract attention. Subscauentlv the light-hou=e-koepcr at Cape Fowlwind telephoned to the local telegraph offlce, and stated that a Blackball steamer had passedaouth; Mr. Allnort added that this is what is done in every case when a steamer is seen passing tho Cape.
