The steamer'Dalniorc, which arrived .'from New York, via Melbourne .and Sydney, yesterday morning, .met with a succession of fierce gales shortly after leaving New York. The whole of tho deck cargo, consisting' of . cask'si 'of oil, explosives, etc., was washed overboard. ;• The seas/ which broke on board,- bent - and twisted tho stanchions on the well < dock forward, besides doing other slight ; damage. "The chief .engineer' (Mr. -E: .Withers), was struck down by a huge - sea and carried along the deck. picked: up ho was found to: have sus-. . tained a .badly-fractured leg. After four', days of continuous gales, the weather moderated, and 'tho Ualmora steered a course for gt:'Vincent. After . Mr. Withers's leg had •been set by a, doctor, the vessel resumed her voyage, and on arrival at' the injured engineer was sent into the Hospital, where it was found necessary to reset tho limb (and iu. consequence ho was' left behind at that port).-.'Tho remainder of: the Daltoor'e's Voyage was ■marked by fair to moderate weather. ' Coming down the coast on Wednesday night extreme, caution..had to'be exercised owing to dense' fog and ' smoke: from bush fires. ■
