Very great hardship is experienced by employers, botli in- town and country, in not being ablo to procure domestic help. Very few .'new 'arrivals-' 1 reach Christchurch, and thoso - who do .come aro" groatlyisouglit aftorj - Generals and cook-generals arb' mos*t' in deinahd, and there .arc also applications': forlaundresses, ono 'laundry. aloiio applying for twenty, extra hands., Tlio reason for this is, probably duo' to privato' people sending. moro. work to tlio laundries, owing; to tlieir,inability..to obtain domo'stics.. Thero is/alsoifo- great?scarcity ' of 'tho factories.'being xinablo '- 'td gd/oiv with their winter orders o\ying to' tlio dearth of hands.
