Wedding. ' t i On Wednesday, afternoon iri St. Piter's ; Church the marriage took place of Miss Edith Smith, elder ;daughter' of Mr. W. j B. Smith; Brooklyn, to Mr. Horace Strangc-Mure. The Vcri. - Archdeacon Harper performed . the' cereriiony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore & frock of ivory satiii with, pearl trimming, and a. beautiful veil, tho work of a friend, and orange blossoms. She was attended by throa bridesmaids, tho Misses E. Smith (her sister), h. Mabley (cousin), and ;M. Williams, all wearing white embroidered frocks and black picture hats. Mr. C.' Ncaber aoted as best ; mau. A reception was afterwards heln in Fulford's Hall, a great man)- friends i being present. Mrs. W. E. Smith wore a dress of brown taffetas silk, with Oriental trimming and n vieux rose hat. In tho evening a number of. friends were entertained by Mr. and Mrs, Smith in tho hall. , , ■ , ; • A pretty w-tddinj was celebrated in St. John s Church on Wednesday, when Miss Vera Avory, only daughter of Mr. G. Avery, Of Wellington, was married to Mr. Harold Williams, officer, ■ and- leftist • son. ■of*, Mr. F. : Williams, Postmaster of Palriierston . South. Tho ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Gibb, a largo , number of guests being present. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore- a handsome dress of! white chiffori tiffctas trimmed with beautiful lace, and the usual veil and wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet. Thero were 1 three bridesmaids. Williams as groomsman. ■ Mrs. Avery, the mother of the bride, woro a • grey cloth costume with pafcsiminterio trimming and a black hat with plumes. She earned a bouquet of pink rojcS. Mrs. Siddells (the bride's aunt) was iri a black silk dres& arid a palo blue hat; Mrs. Donnelly wov6 a wnito embroidered frock and a-large black hat with roses;' Mrs; Janssri, black chiffon over silk With cream lace sleeyes arid vest and a black and whito hat.' At St. John's Church yesterday afternoon Miss Lodder, eldest daughter of Mr. A. R. V. Lodder, Upper Willis Street, .was married to Mr. Trevor Shannon, son of Mr. G. V. Shannon. The Rev. Dr. Gibb performed tho ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, woro a dress of, white charmouse sfitin with an ovrdreis of Brussels lace arid an exquisite Brussels lace veil fastened with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of cre'airi roses and liiaidcrihair'fern. Her sisters,. Miss Violet and Miss Daisy Lodder, and Miss Vera ;Maeßoth"'(niece" of the, bridegroom) attended licr as bridesmaids, wearing blue tunic dresses of cripO do chine and large white crinoline hats with Whito bows. They carried bouquets of blue hydrarigeas. The -bridegroom presented the chief bridesmaid with a brooch set with turquoises, and tho other two , with pearl and turquoiso pendants on gold chains. The best man was Mr. W.-'Shannon, and tho groomsman Mr. Stuart Seddon. The bride's rnother wore a drcSs of grey net over silk and a grey hat. A recoption was afterwards held at tho residence of the bride's parents, beautiful flowers being arranged in the reception rooms. The bride s travelling frock was of sapphire blue Shantung silk with paisley and a bluo Shantung silk hat lin6d With prune . velvet and .tririimcd with poppies of the samo shade. Tho fu- . turo home of Mr. nnd Mrs. Shannon will be in Feilding. Larigrilari, who arrived i by'tho, Blenheim in 1812,' ns wee children , arid were married in Auckland in 1601, celebrated their fcolden wedding. Yesterday a very enjoyablo morning tea was given for her by Mrs. Wylio in tho large "common" room of the An.. Club. Mrs. AVylie woro a cream coat and skirt and a black and . white hat; ,Miss Day .was'in a'whito embroid:. ered frock nud. a burntf itnw hat trfutuied with" pink silk; Miss Muriel Wylie wore a whito embroidered muslin dress and a cream straw.hat lined and trim-, ined -with heliotrope. Among those present w«ro Mrs. David Fiudlny* Mri. 1. M. B. -Fisher, Mrs. H. Alwyn,. Mrs. Freeth, Miss Amy Kane, Mrs. Corliss, Mrs. Macarthy, Miss .Hardinge-Maltby, Mrs'. C.' Tringham, and Miss Payne.
