A number • o petty thefts have occurred in the town and- neighbourhood quite recently, and residents aro putting their money iu a place where they consider it will be safe. At tho opening of . St. Bede's Collegiate School yesterday afternoon a visiting pricstj Monsignor Fowler, said he believed, there was wisdom in tho old institution of the Inquifiton.. That was a startling saying, but he meant it. What was callcd heresy in thoSo days was nothing but anarchy and rebellion against God. It was neeesary to take measures, (erriblo measures, to repress rebollion. because tho life of the nation was at stake. Education without religion was a farce, and ho had no patience for a moment with anyono who would deny, that proposition. . ■
