Wanganiii, .February 12. ■ The body of a young man named Edward Coady, asod 21, a new arrival from Ireland, was found in tho river on Saturday. It appears that deceased had been homesick and despondent since his arrival tbrco months ago. His uncle, Mr. Thomas Coady, of Aramoho. secured a return ticket for him on Tuesday, but the young man disappeared on that day. The ticket was found in his clothes. . FOUND DROWNED. Christchtircli, February 12. The body.of Tcreneo M'llugh, 71 years of age, was found in. the Waimakariri River at White's Bridgo-a,bout a quarter to eight o'clock this morning. It ap-' pears that M'Hugh, who.'had rid settled placo of refidenco used to travel about tho Dominion picking up odd jobs, and was camped on tho banks of the river beyond Belfast and expected to got somo work-at potato digging..'■ Early this morning ho was seen wading in the river, and about half an hour afterwards his dead body was found. If is assumed that whilst wadins ho succumbed to heart disease. A savings-bank book .'showed that ho has .£2OO in the.bank, tho deposits having been mailo in Wellington. /As far. as is known Jl'Hugh has no relations in the Dominion, but it is believed that he has a nephew in' Australia, whence came: to New Zealand;about seven years ago.
