———♦ To-day the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) will be in Wellington. Other Ministers in town.will be the Hon. Dr. Findlay, the Hon. R. M'Kenzie, r.nd the Hon. D. Buddo. Ministers in other parts of the Dominion are the Hon. J. A. Millar in Otago, the Hon. G. Fowlds returning to Wellington from Auckland, the Hon. T. Mackenzie with tho Scottish Commission, and the Hon. J. Carroll and tho Hon. A. T. Ngata on the East Coast. The Hon. G. Fcwlds is expected back in Wellington from Auckland this evening. : Tho Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, left yesterday for .Palmcrston North, whore he is to relieve Mr. Justice Cooper, who goes on to Auckland to preside over the civil sessions of tho Supremo Court there, on account of the illness of Mr. Justice Edwards. ' The Chief Justice is expected at Napier on February' 21. Mr. Justico Chapman will leave for Blenheim on Saturday next and afterwards goes on to Nelson.

The RaV. A. Dewdney, of Wellington, is to, attend the second Australasian Baptist Congress, to bo held in Melbourne from March 25 to April 5. The Rev. .W: Hay, of Dunedin,. and tho Rev. C. Boyal'l, of Caversham, and probably Mr. A. Fi Carey; of Christchurch, will also be present.

Messrs. J. Barr and C. Corbett, Sydney pressmen, who have been holidaymaking in.Wellington, left for homo by the TJlimaroa yesterday, and were accorded a hearty farewell.

Company, was the recipient last evening at his residence of a small presentation'from a number of personal friends on the occasion of his being transferred to Port Chalmers. Mr. William Couper, a resident of Wellington for twenty years, died in the Otaki Hospitalon Thursday night. Ho arrived from Scotland: by tho ship Auckland in tho early '70's, and settled in Oaniaru, where he resided until 1891, when he caine to' Wellington., Of his six soris only two—Mr: Bobert K. Couper, of tho Postal Department, secretary of the Old Wellington Navals' •Association, aud Mr. '.A: C. Couper, of tho Tramways Department-are living in Wellington.
