CARTERTON ITEMS.

(From Oar Special Correspondent.) Tho district meeting of the Independent Order of IJechabitcs opens at Napier to-day. Tho local Tent is beiiifr represented by Bro. \V. H. Partridge, P.C.K., who left for tho north yesterday. Mr. N. Daysh, inventor of tho Zealandia milking machine, leaves hero on February 16 for Australia, and will probably later on go to New York. The Anglican Church Mission commenced at St. Mark's Church on Sunday, and will extend over ten days. Tho congregations wro excellent throughout the day, and, if the enthusiasm continues,' the mission should bo a great success. Tlio Rev. E. D. Evans is tlio missioner. During tho past few days tho weather hero has been very changeable, but tho rain has done an immense amount of good. It completely settled, the bush fires.
