WAIHOANGA.
.Miss. Radford, the teacher appointed to the' new school here, has arrived, and is at present tho guest of Mr. and Mrs. Beauchamp. Tho school will not be ready' for opening for another week. A large party of visitors, taking advantage of beautiful weather, drove out from Otaki and other places to view the Maranikau tennis courts. However, they were somewhat disappointed, as, owing to unforeseen circumstances, tho courts were not quite-finished. However, a stroll round to; view tho beautiful scenery, with a dainty- afternoon tea at Mr. Horrihan's, and also at Holtorn Hall, where Mrs; Holtorn," with her usual generosity, entertained stray visitors, made up somewhat for the disapi)ointment regarding the courts. The management are now hard nt work, and hope scon to have the court's completed. The surveyors have been at work laying out the line for the new road into the Waitauro Valley. This work should have been done long since, and the road commenced during the fine weather. Tho Gorge Road is in a bad state, and tho outlook when the heavy traffic from tho new mill commences is not pleasant to look forward to when the wet weather sets in.
