The local bowlers, at a well-attended meeting, decided to hold a two days' tournament here at Easter, and Messrs. Stevens, Smith, Satherley, Farmer, and Thomson havq been appointed to make arrangements. Several * new members were also elected, bringing the total up to considerably over 100.Tho work of erecting a creamery at Paraparaumu is now in hand, ami when completed will till a long-felt want. Bush fires are now raging on the hills at the ; back of tho township, and good burns should result. A heavy shower of rain fell early on Saturday, but will prove no detriment to them* Last month proved a dry one for the district, rain being .registered on nine days only, with a total fall iif 1.45 m., maximum .3Din. The monthly sitting of the S.M. Court was held on Friday, when the S.M. was occupied for sonie ' three hours only. Neils Anderson, a billiard-saloon-keeper, for* having no license, and previouslybeing cautioned, was fined Is. and_ costs 125., the license in the meantime liaving been sccured. For furious motor-riding, Sam Bevan was fined 20s. and costs. In the case Eleanor Lanaway v. Edward .Lanaway, charge of wife desertion, defendant was sentenced to three months* imprisonment, and ordered to pay J2l per week towards' his wife and child's support. In the judgment summons, A. N. . M'Mockan v. G. Cootes, no order was made. In tho case Mark Bird v. Mrs. . Bradlee, claim ,£7 Is. 6d. for repairs to a boundary fence, the defendant was ordered to pay £2 and costs .£2. Several minor , civil cases wero undefended.
