ITS OBSERVANCE IN AUCKLAND (Bj Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, February 6. The following paragraph from . the "Herald" this morning illustrates the extent to which Sunday excursions are carried, and how they are commonly accepted occurrences. "The weather yesterday was bright and fine, the heat being tempered by a fresh south-westerly breeze, and tha various water excursions were largely attended. The Devonport Perij Company ran their usual Sunday trips to St. Helier's Bay, Hangitoto, Motutapu, How. ick, and Lake, Takanuna, all being fairly well patronised. The usual large Sunday crowd .journeyed ■to Devonport, Cheltenham Beach,, appearing, to be a favourite resort. Tho excursion to Eiverhead and to the fishing grounds also attracted a. fair number. The AVakatere made an excursion, with about 500 Druids and thsir friends."
