SCOTCH COMMISSIONERS.
VISIT TO LINCOLN COLLEGE; Tho Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln was visited last Friday by ■Messrs. James Keith and .Tames Dunlop, members of the board-of twelve commissioners, who. have been recently touring tho Commonwealth of Australia. Their stay was necessarily,, short, but they state that tliev saw enough to convince them that the college was well onuippod and was run on ' admirable lines. "It is different" from most agricultural colleges in Scotland," remarked Mr. Keith to a Christchurch "Press" reporter, "in '.that it has such a large farm around it, whereas most institutions of the kind in Scotland nro more ncndemical. There are, of course, colleges of tho 'same kind in England with Rood big farms, but although some may be larger, yet your college compares very favourably with any-1-havo scsn either in Great Britain, Canada, or Australia. The stock on it are good, espccailly tho draught horses and tho sheep, and I also noticed that the students had roomy studies, practically to themselves, which is a very great improvement on tho common rooms usual in most institutions of tho kind. The only criticism I can make about the place is tho small number of students there.. I understand that the accommodation is taxed to tbo limit, but I should have thouzht that tkcro would have been at least three times the number from a country like this. Messrs. Dunlop and Keith arrived in Wellington yesterday, and will leave this morning for Wereroa and Feilding.
