Tho bulk of the yarding comprised aged ewes in backward condition, a large number of failing mouths, and. also' seYeral'lols of store and cull lambs. Tho yarding of fat cattle was a small one, entries totalling 168. compared with 316 at the , previous sale. The- class throughout was fair, and the demand was brighter than at last sale, although there waG ilo quotablo appreciation in prices. Best beef mado 245. 6d. to 28s. 6d.: medium, 225. 6d. to 235. 6d.; and,cow and inferior boef.' 19s. 6d. to 225. per 1001b. Steers realised £7 15s. to ,£ll 55.; heifers, £5 ss. to £8 17s. 6d.; and dry cows, £5 -to £8 ss. The store cattle yarding was a small one, several classes not being .represented, and thero was a fair. demand, especially for animals in good condition. Fiftwn to 18-month sorts mado £2 Es. to £2 155.; 2year steers, £3 IBs. 6d.; 3-year hoifcTs, £4 55.; and dry cows, £1 ss. to £4 10s. A lino of 15 to Z4-months mixed cattle made £3 lCs. Very few fat calves were penned, but as usual they varied greatly in size and quality, and prices ranged from 4j. 6d. to £2 17s. 6d., necording to age and condition. . Dairy Cows.—Thoro was a good entry and a good demand for better sorts, prices ranging from £3 17s. 6d. to £8 17-3. 6d. There was a medium entry of pigs of all classes. For baconers there wan a good demand, but porkers were slack, and prices were a, little easier. Choppers made to 7Ds.; heavy baconers. 50s. to 575.; and smaller Eorts. 40s. to 475. 6d., c<;ual to 4id. per lb. Heavy porkers realised 325. to 565., and lighter, 25,-,. to 305., equivalent to 4d. to lid. per lb. Stores wore represented by u good yarding, but the supply was. in e\ce'i3 of the demand, aud the market was "weaker. Largo stores made 2'.s. to 27a.: smaller, 14s. to 20s. TOP PRICES AT WOOL SALES, It is worthy of note-that at both of the Inst wool sales held in Cliristclmrch, clips which obtained top price were from sheep which had been clipped in Little s Sheep Dips. Mr. O. Rutherford, Waitohi Peaks, who took top price, liijd., on January. 12th, used Little's Powder Dip, and Little's Fluid Dip was used' ou the l'ahau Pastures Hock,' wool' from which fetched 13U1. on December.
