Leopold Amery, war correspondent, for libel in a AVolvcrhamptdu newspaper, in which he accused EdmondEon of cownrdice during the Boor Avar, stating that ■ n party, of Yeomanry under plaintiff ran away. The War Office, on. the ground of public policy, declined to produce documents. Several witnesses testified that the party was cut off from the- main body, and plaintiff bravely, under-fire, led them to safety. Lord Roberts,, in his evidence, stated that, after considering the circumstance.?, he concluded tliat Edmondson misbehaved before the enemy in leaviDg the field, and reduced him 'in rank. . . . A member of the party deposed that tho men would 'have rejoined the n'ain body but for plaintiff, v.-lio ran r. way at the outset. •
