The spacious floor of Baker's Building, opposite tho Union Bunk, has just been the display of a large stock of most carefully selected and choice Irish linen goods, which are intended to be sold by auction on Thursday next, February 2. These goods have como direct from the manufacturers, and arc introduced i Mr. J. I', llurphy, of Belfast, (he great centre of tho Irish linen trade; and certainly the beautiful Roods now on view, amongst which nre some of the choicest products of the world-famed Irish looms, make an exhibition which should prove highly attractive to householders and tho public generally. As the sale is to bo absolutely unreserved, it should prove particularly advantageous to those who will avail themselves of it for supplying perhaps many a long-fnlt want. A visit to the showroom can easily determine this, and as tho goods will bo on view (ill the date of auction, there will be every facility for inspection. The first quarter of the Wellington Technical School will begin to-morrow, February 2. Syllabus may bo had on application to the Hegistrar. A' notice to consignees of cargo by the s.s. Star of India, which is expected to arrive this morning, appears in this issue. Messrs. latham and Co., land agents, Woodville, advertise, particulars of two farms for sale. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. and N.Z. Loan and Mercantilo Agency Co. will hold a sale of purebred Jerseys at Palniorston North on Monday, February 13. Messrs. A. L. Wilson and Company will hold their weekly sale of high-class furnishings, piano,' and effects, at their rooms, 2G Brandon Street, to-day.
