London, January 2D. : The airship Beta, made a journey from Farnborough, near Aldershot, to.Portsmouth and■back. . Wireless communication with headquarters was maintained throughout the trip. The "Standard'' recently . announced that arrangements aro being made by tho Government for tho formation of the first actual air fleet, and it .will be in commission during 1911. Tho fleet is to consist in the first instance of six airships and usjjofieroplanes, and theso practically re-present-1 a "Tjattle squadron" and - a' f'cruiser squadron." Tho airship squadron is intended for tho - more seriousstrategical work of defence in' reconnaissance and for undertaking long journeys.
