' P.N.Y.'C. PICNIC. . On Saturday afternoon in perfect weather tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club held a picnic at Scorching Bay. There were a largo number of yachts in the bay, and also a largo number of people. A sports programme was got up by tho club, ana a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The following are the results'of tho sports:100 yds. Plat Race—Cf M'Lean, 1; A. Douglas, 2. Tug-of-war between crews of first, second and third-class yachts for a shield presented by the commodore, Mr. C. Ward, to be competed for annually— AVon by second-class yachts. Three-legged race—Solan and Ward, 1; Miller and G. M'Lean, 2. Cabin boys' dinghy race—Miller, 1; Doughty, 2. Ladies' bracelet, thread-the-needle race, won by Miss W. Meyers and G.' Little. 50yds. ladies' race —Miss W. Meyers, 1; Miss T. Meyers, 2. Tho prizes were presented after tho races, and subsequently tho . yachts -returned hoino at their leisure.

TE ARO SAILING CLUB. Tho To Aro Sailing Club got off a raca on Saturday afternoon for Messrs. Ilamill Bros.' trophy. The result of the race was: •-Redwing (IHmin.), 1; Valeta (9.Vmin.), 2; Winifred (13min.),-3. Also started: Lotus (llmin.); Nan (scr.). and Kaitaro (scr.). The boats'finished in pairs and it was a somewhat exciting race to watch. The finishing times of the boats were: Redwing, ilir. 20min. 56sec.; Valeta, 4hr. 22min. 4 sec.; Winifred, 4hr. 2Dmiii. 40sec. j Lotus •llir. 2!)min. iSsec.; Nan,.4hr. 38min. 24sec.; and Kaitare, 4hr. 39min. 9sec.

HER-ETAUNGA BOATING CLUB. Two events {postponed from New Year's Day in connection with the Petono gala sports) wero sailed off on Saturday atternoon by tho Ileretaunga Boating Club. Tho following boats took part ill the 18ft. and under class:—Ruby, (scr.), Spray (•lmin.), Tom Wilfoid (Gmin.), Rata (lOmin.), Runa (llmin.), Gil Bias (12min.), Bronzewing (lGmin.), and Waiiti (20min.). They finished in tho following order,—Rata, 111. 27min. -i-isoc., 1; Bronzewing, 111. 25min. 17sec., 2; Spray, 111. 2Dmin. 30sec., !!. Tom Wilford, 111. 31min. 38sec.; Rnby, 111. 31inin. 30sec.; Gil Bias 111. 31min. lasec.; Wai-iti, Hi. 45min. 43sec.; Runa, 111. 53min. 53sec. Tho launch racti has yot to be competed for, ami will probably bo held next Saturday. 11l tho life-saving event only four boats competed out of seven entries. Results:— Spray, Ist; time, 2-teec. Gil Bias, 2nd, ■12sec. Runa, 3rd, 53!scc. Iliuau, disqualified.
