Wireless calls liavo been unanswered. REFLOATING THE EASTERN.. Brlsbana, January 2". An unsuccessful attempt was mado.to refloat tho steamer Eastern, stranded at Salamander Bank. Proceedings aro now being taken to iigbten tho ship. Sho will probably bo compelled to jettison 100 tons of cargo. The vessel is considered safe unless bad weather sets in. SALVING THE AOTEA". London, January 26. Seventy per centum insurance .is quoted by the underwriters on tho Shaw-Savill liner Aotea, whicb wont ashorei a few days ago near Capo Town. A.contract on tbo "no euro no pay" svstem has been made to refloat the vessel. WRECK ON BRITISH COLUMBIAN COAST.
A' BOAT MISSING. (Rec. January 28, 0.30 a.m.)' New York, January 27. The Pacific Coast Steamship Company's steamer Cottago City (1885 tons gross, built in 1890), while bound from Seattle to Skagway, grounded at Cape Mudge, in British Columbia;, in a blinding snowstorm. The passengers escaped in the boats before the vessel sank, and were landed at tho lighthouse. On© boatload is missing, and it is feared that it has met with disaster. •
