AN OUTING FOR CHILDREN.

Sir,—A number of us have been camping at Day's Bay for tho last month, and while there have given open-air concerts, which have been- largely attended. Tho idea came to mo. I hat these gatherings could bo turned to good account, on behalf of the children at the Salvation Army Home, Owen Street, Wellington. .1 suggested to the people how very acceptable it would be to giro them a fortnight's holiday at our camp. Wo should, of course, have to raise enough money, or obtain sufficient promise; of eatables, etc., to keep them going whilo they were over there. This suggestion was taken up with energy. .Els"has been subscribed. A butcher has promised 1501b. of beef; also, wo have the promises of 110 gallons of milk, cheese, all the tea that is required, and some dolls for presents. I wanted, if possible, to get .£3O. \\'c hove, as I said before, .CIS already in hand. Wo now want the loan of two tents, about 7 trusses of- straw, cheese, jam, lollies, and especially fruit; also, they will require ,10 leaves of bread per day, and several pounds of butter. Jour readers will easily understand how quickly the money will be spent. I have also the promise of the use of a raft, but want someone with a motor launch to volunteer to tow it from AVelliogton

and back again. Visitors will alwnys bo welcomed to the camp, winch is situated in Day's Bay, a low minutes' walk from the wharf. With these particulars, 1 should esteem it a rreat favour if you would publish the -ukjvo in any form which you might think suitable.—l am, elc, J.-W. KEADE. Day's Bay, 'Wellington.
