Some time ago the City Council asked the Government to bear a portion of tho cost of wood-blocking streets surrounding tho General l'ost Office. A reply from the Government, embodying certain proposals, was before tho Financo Commifteo of the Counoil yesterday, and will be reported on at'the' meeting of tho latter body to-morrow evening. The council has decided to uso blocks of Powellised birch in paving Customhouse Quay. Motor Cyclists who have had any experience of tight corners, know how much depends upon the control of the machine. Tho 5-G h.p. and 4-cylinder, F.N. going at top speed, can be brought to almost a dead stop within a few yards. It is fitted with a strong hand-brake, ns well as a special foot-brake, 0110 of tho most powerful on any machine, and is very easy' to control. Call and look it over nt E.
