H. Hindmarsh asked for a statement concerning the working of. the Dental Department at. the Hospital. What were its functions? ■ • The, reply, by .the chairman (Mr. J. G. \W:Aitkeh), and Mr. R. C. Kirk (chairman .of the Hospital Committee), was -to the effect that the Dental Department was under control of Mr. Didsbury, tho honorary dental surgeon. It was'^not,- strictly, speaking, a consulting department, as it simply treated patients "who were sent in by the outpatients department of the Hospital. It existed to meet . the necessity' of patients who could not afford- private treatment, and occasionally, as. had the : 'Charitable Aid Board in the past, suppliedl artificial teeth. : It wa3,-considered Mr.'Kirk, a'; department which was de-serving-of. further extension.
