Justice, was aslted by a "Press" ' r^P r 6S<mtativo regarding statements which have been published hinting at further changes amongst ' the higher placed-, officers of the police foreo" of the Dominion. Dr. Findlay said that no further changes, will bomade amongst the superior officers of tho force for some considerable time Ihere would be, however, some transfers and promotions consequent on the two retirements from tho forco announced this week. In addition 'there would be from time to time the usual transfers and promotions among tho rank and file of the force, biit,°as already stated, no changes or alterations among the higher officers. Afkcd if it, was intended to appoint Inspector JUely permanently in the Canterbury district, and when the vacancies caused by the retirements already mentioned were to be filled, the Minister stated that he proposed dealing with these matters on his return to Wellington.
