' Sydney, January 9. Dr. Mawson is visiting Sydney in con:, nection - with the Science Congress. Ho hopes ,to .start his Antarctio expedition from Melbourne in November next. Ho says he has assurances of funds enough, jnainly England, but hopes for furrier utfli'sd'aliiW support, that 1 ho. may to able to call it an Australian expedition. Tim area proposed -to ho covered will bo within- the rango of wireless telegraphy from the Bluff. He expects to solve Australian problems.
Referring ' to the reported Japanese Antarctio expedition, it seemed to liiln, from reports published, that their equipment would be quite inadequate for Polar work. It may be that their object really is to exploit the seal oil and pelt industry.
