Speaking at the New Year. reception to Indians of all races and creeds in London, Sir Henry Cotton, formerly Chief Commissioner* in Assam, urged Indians not to ■ express themselves too strongly lest they should fall into the grave' trouble as Savarkar, the Indian student, .who was sentenced to - deportation for life. He expressed the hope that The Hague''Arbitration Tribunal would restore Savarkar to France, to whose soil "he escapcd from the steamer which was .carrying him to India.
