Dr. Deck, a missionary from tho Solomon Islands, reports that • four / months ago, in response to .a request that the Rennell Islanders should establish a school, three native teachers of Malaiki were sent to the island. Two days later tho three teachers were killed. ' Dr. Deck declares that the natives have no grudge against the mission, and 'that the chief is loyal and had nothing to do with the murder, which was committed, by three men for the sake of the missioned' axes and other belongings. On the next visit of the mission vessel the islanders were quite friendly.
