The Auckland correspondent of The Dominion telegraphs tfia the survey of Auckland Harbour, which the Admiralty has agreed to undertake, will shortly bo commenced by Lieutenant Jackson, of H.M.S. Fantome, which is now in West Australia,' engaged in searching for the rock on' which the ill-fated steamer l'ericles was lost. Tho scope of tho survey will extend from Itangitoto Beacon to Kauri Point, and the work will probably take two or three months to complete. , Particulars of a pieco of land, to be sold by public auction by Messrs. A. L. Wilson and Co. at their rooms, Brandon Street, on January 25, appear in an j advertisement in this ireue. Farmer (to lady who has taken rooms at the farm for the summer): "Tidy crop of hay, mum."
