MISSIONS TO SEAMEN,
In the season's festivities a concert was held, at tho Mission to Seamen's Institute, on New Year's Evening, when, beforo a large' assemblage of seafaring men, tho following wore tho performers:— The Misses Hardy, Aldous, Talbot, Baker, and Lissacks, and Messrs. Wyatt, Holder, Smith, and Power. Brightness was the feature of tho evening, and seasonable hospitality was'dispensed. At 11.15 there followed .Watchnight , servico.- On Sunday'full services, splendidly attended, were held. -Mr. Moore was tho preacher, Mi". .T. W. Jack was at the organ, and Mr. Phipps was the soloist. A tea was given in the afternoon. On Monday . a picnic was held in Mrs. Khodes's grounds, and in the Institute, to which tho party returned when tho rain came on. Hero a pleasant time was passed in sports of all kinds. At 8 o'clock a limelight lantern exhibition was given by Mr. Barltrop, when Mr. Davies (Greytown) lectured on "Insects," with much ■ acceptance. Mr. llooro spoke on the slides of a humorous nature. The efficient help of a vocal and instrumental kind was given by Mrs. Running, Misses Talbot, and' Baker, Mr. Paul and Master Baker, and some of the men. Tho prizes donated wore presentd by Mrs. Williams, who was rcceivod with cheers.
