January 1, !j.5 p.m.) Now York, December 31, MrV Robin, chairman of tho Northern Bank of New York, which was closed by the Stato last week on account of alleged irregularities, made a dramatic attempt to commit suicide to-day. Mr. Robin swallowed hyoscino on entering the Court in tho city to-day, exclaiming, "I am a dead man!" He collapsed, and was hurriedly conveyed to a hospital, where ho lies critically ill, though his recovery is probable.
