The earthquako at Espiritu Santo, tho largest island of tho Now .Hebrides, reported yesterday, extended as far south as the Island of. Mallicolo. There wero many destructive land-slides, and some mountain peaks disappeared, tho whole formation being altered... . On the west .coast of .Santo '.a..tidal wa.vo followed the shock, thgi beach being. . raised several feet. Considerable damage was caused to shipping. , One report states, that . 'the shock lasted thirty seconds, during which houses were razed, a large area of crops was destroyed, cliffs were shaken into the sea, and tons of fish wore destroyed. The coast-lino in soveral places has been raised several feet.
