THANKS.

BY MOTHER MARY AUBERT. i ' [To the Editor.] \ . Sir,—Allow mo through the columns i your valuable paper to offer the expression of my heartfelt gratitude to the host of kind peoplo of every creed, 1 denomination, ana social position. who have so. spontaneously anu generously, responded to tho call , of Mrs T. G. , Macarthy and her loving helpers on behalf of our. humble works. Such a response, has reached tho ideal height of charity, after the-many and heavy taxations put on tho people during this . year for the cause of charity. : . j. When in years past wo'started our. , homes wo came forward- with loving hearts'and willing hands, but what could wo have done .without tho kind \ and unfailing assistance of noble hearts who espoused the cause of tho poor and afflicted?: They canio forward from the beginning with their gold, silver, copper, and even hands—as tho Plunket and Working Bees' reservoir on the ; hills of Melrose testifies. They camo v i from tho vice-regal mansion down to tho cottage of the struggling labourer. They . have all identified themselves with the humble Sisters of Compassion for tho relief of poor suffering humanity. ■ The medical has given most ungrudgingly and untiringly its invaluable protection and attendance. Everybody has ,met on the field',of charity j . and all have proved gallant officers and soldiers. Towards all, therefore, flows f the . loving stream of mv own ;and my Sisters'.heartfelt gratitude. To all do lie. wish the best Christmas' blessings •. and the happiest of happy New Years. Christmas cards could hot possibly reach all thoso';we desire to thank, but we bog ■; of all our friends, either in town' or country, to accept this homage of tho : deep gratitude of the united Sisters and inmates. I-have tho honour to be, etc., _ MARY JOSEPH AUBERT. : Home orCompassion, Island. Bay, December 16, 1910.
