Another batch' of 55 members has been returned to-day at the elections, 30 of them being supporters of the : Government, and 25 Unionists. This brings 1 the total of members elected up to 408, results being still to come from. 262 constituencies. The Government lead of yesterday of 15 over the Opposition has now been increased to 20. The day is considered to be the best tho Unionists have so far had. jthe position of parlies is now as follows, tho number of members in each part of the Kingdom being shown in parentheses i— Government. London, December 8. Pollings in the majority of boroughs close to-day. ■ .. • ■ ' . .Yesterday's was the best of the Unionist results to date; They held their own in Sheffield. Sir H. Seymour King's majority at .Central Hull ■increased; and the Liberal majorities in the other divisions of Hull decreased: Chester was easily held hy Mr. R. Yerburgli. ' '.' The Unionist vote in London,amounts to 270,034, and the Ministerial vote to 243,774; but London's sixty-two seats are equally divided between the Liberals and Unionists. ■ ; Tho Liberal majority at Eccles, SouthEast Lancashire, . increased from 411 to 791, but the Unionist poll was a thousand above Janaury's. The Liberal majority :at . Accrington,, North-East Lancashire, decreased from 2513 to 791. The decreased polls elsewhere were due to indifference •of electors outside the ranks of keen politicians, and to the oldness of -the register.
