ANGLICAN MISSION.
MIDDAY SERVICES. 'THREE THEOEIES OP THE WORLD.' There were large attendances at the final midday services, which'were given under yie aiispiccs of the Anglican Mis-; sion.by Canon Ivens and Canon Stuart at the Town Hall yesterday. •Canon, Stuart delivered an impressive address on "The Fathevjiood of God," framing his. discourse on what,- he said, constituted the only possible theories of the world as it is—either (1) the Supreme Being, if.there was, one,.was a devil; or, (2) there was no Supremo Being at all, and everything went by mere chance, or (3) the Supreme Being behind the universe was a Father who, for some ulterior aim, permitted the existence, of..suffering, pain, and sorrow. In tho last theory rested man's hope. "You can ask me if dozen questions as to our life which I cannot answer," declared TTie speaker, but the Father knows, and I leave these to His .care." , Continuing,. Canon Stuart said that God did not pretend to satisfy curiosity; the Bible was not a chart of the whole forest of .life—it merely pointed' the way home. The-Divine-.wisdom permitted these mysteries for the development of character and the teaching of patience and faith.
