Settlers on the western bank of the Wanganui River are pleased to know that there is every prospect of the "missing link" in tho Kauarapaoa Road being completed before very long. Surveyors aro now preparing for tho first steps in laying off of the roadline, and tho work of survey will probably commence next week. The Government has agreed to legalise the' road, and tho cost of its formation has been undertaken by tho settlers, who will raiso a special loan for the purpose. ■
The <VVanganui Chamber of Commerce last night passed a resolution of thanks to tho Minister for Agriculture for agreeing to appoint a dairy produce grader hero, but showed no disposition to wait till next session. as tho .Minister suggested. It .was pointed out that there are five months of the present season still to go, and that if there is no grader available in New Zealand probably -ono could bo found in Australia. The local dairy companies having guaranteed to pay tho passage of a man across from Australia if ono could be found, tho Chamber this morning telegraphed the offer to the Minister, who has replied that he is inquiring into the matter.
