KARORI TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
WORK,BEGINS THIS WEEK. The Karon-Borough loan of ,£27,500 for the extension.of the tramway to the foot of llakara Hill has 'just been raised through the A.M.P. Society at the rate of 4i per cent. It is expected that the construction work will be started . this week.) The. installation of the feeder cable is to be commenced to-morrowi and the.-erection of the poles next .week.. Tho.. rails are expected to arrive in , time for the work of laying them' to bo started early in January. The new line, besides increasing the residential potentialities of the borough, will bring the municipal recreation ground, which the conncil-haa considerably' improved within the last year or two, into much closer touch, with the city. . . . ■
