THE WEDNESDAY MATCHES,
The . third scries of matches in the first round of the Wednesday competition was concluded yesterday afternoon. Post and Telegraph had an. easy win over Tramways by five wickets and six runs. Plimmer, bowling for Post and Telegraph, put up a iino performance, tailing seven wickets for 49 runs. In the match Artillery v. Union, the former won by ten wickets. In this match the bowling of M'lntyro and Bailey proved very destructive. Oriental defeated Vivian by 18 runs on the first innings. Little, batting for Oriental, put together 50 runs in fine style. THE WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES.. Tho Wellington • Cricket Association Management Committee met on Tuesday evening, Mr. M. Luckie presiding. In connection with the Plunket Shield match, to bo played at Auckland at Christmas, it was decided that as many of tho. Wellington team as possiblo should leave .for Auckland on December 21. • The association will pay. expenses from that date. Tho team to meet Canterbury in Christchurch at New Year will leave Wellington on Thursday,. December 22. It was agreed that tho representative team for Auckland should be selected on Saturday evening next. The team will play a match at the ' Hutt on December 13 with a "next best" eleven, and special practice for the representatives will be arranged on evenings during tho week prior to tho departure of tho team. Tho City Council intimated that the association would be permitted to charge Gd. admission for two Saturday afternoons during the final match. Tho Junior Cricket Association asked that if possible a date should bo set apart for a match between its representatives and' those of tho association. Tho secretary was instructed to reply that no date was at present available. Tho resignation of Mr. C. Richardson front his position on the Senior Selection Committeo was received, and Mr. J. P. Blacklock was appointed to fill the vacancy. SATURDAY JUNIOR , MATCHES. The following .are the junior championship fixtures for December 3 and 10:— Hutt v. St. Mark's, oh Hutt ground; Petone v. Central, Petono ground; Victoria College v. Johnsonville, Kelburno Park; Y.M.C.A. v. North, Kelburno Park; South v. East, College ground; College a bye. Junior players aro notified that the games previously arranged for the above dates have been re-arranged.. Tho fixtures originally drawn, College v. Johnsonville and Victoria Collego v. South, have been cancelled, and the above fixtures substituted. College have J been given a bye in place of East. No junior fixture will be played on the Basin Reserve on the above dates.
Tho Telephone Exchange Club, playing in its maiden match against the General Hospital Club at Newtown Park yesterday, obtained a victory by one wicket and 30 runs. The winners compiled 117 (R, Eyalls 50, S. J. Lambie 15), and tho Hospital team obtained 87 (Zinehgraft 28, Leainan 19). Crooks was the most successful of the Hospital bowlers, and Eyalls and Hayes took most wickets for Telephone Exchange. Catch of tho Season. Laws and Manning's splendid stock of cricket materials.
