WAS IT AN. INSULT?
. Tho: Leader of the Opposition raised the ire of the Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. T. Mackenzie) early this morn.ihS- Mr. Massny inadvertently referred to the/ Hon. Mr. Mackenzie as the member for Clutha, the electorate which Mr. Mackenzie formerly . represented.. On being corrected Mr. Massey remarked jocularly that the ' people of Clutha would not have Mr. Mackenzie. "I ask thaMhe Leader of the Opposition be re- • quested to withdraw that statement. It is an: insult to me. How does ho know people of Clutha would not have me? ho added., Mr. Mackenzie proceed, ed with some heat to challenge Mr. Massey to stand against him in any part of the Dominion. He said the statement made by Mr. Massey :was a lie. • Mr. Massey asked that tho words bo taken down. Mr. Mackenzie was saying that he was insulted across the floor of the House'., when the Speakor ordered him to. resume his seat'. Mr. Speaker, said the. wor.d must bo withdrawn, and Mr. Mackenzie complied- with the request. At the same time he pointed out that no had.never been defeated as long as he Btocd for Clutha, and was always' welcomed when he went'back there.
