MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) TWO MEN SENT TO ROTORUA. There was a very brief sitting -of the Magistrate's Court at 9 a.m. yesterday, as, on account of the holiday, the indictable cases usually dealt with on Wednesday had been disposed of on other days. John Robert Donoghuo was charged with drunkenness, and with two separate breaches of a prohibition order.- He was deemed to bo a habitual drunkard, and for tho second breach of the prohibition order he was ordered to the Inebriates' Home at Rotorua, and remain there for ono year. On tlio other two charges he was convicted and discharged. Isidore Jacobus was also declared a . habitual drunkard, and for breaking his prohibition order he was sent to the Rotorua Home for one year. On a charge of drunkenness and a second breach of the prohibition order, Jacobus was convicted and discharged. Patrick Ruddy, for procuring liquor .during tho currency of a prohibition order, was fined 405., in default seven days' imprisonment. On a charge of drunkenness, the same accused was convicted and discharged. Terence M'Alear, charged with similar offences, was penalised to the sanlo extent. Joseph Connor, for. drunkenness, was fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. MOUNT COOK POLICE COURT. At the Mount Cook Police Court yesterday, before Mr. T. S. Lambert, J.P., John M'Kie pleaded guilty to drunten"ness for the twenty-second time. Accused had been a year at Pakatoa, and had only recently returned. He .pleaded for another chance, promising to at once resume work that he was engaged at. After being admonished he was convicted and discharged on that condition. John M'Crory pleaded guilty to being drunk in Courtenay Place. Ho was mulcted in the sum of 10s. with the usual option.
