Ho believed that' Australians were prepared to accept tho extra taxation necessary to provide for proper defence. Whatever advice Admiral Henderson gave regarding defence tlio Government would act whole-heartedly upon. They had to look further afield than the mere defenco of Australia. They must be prepared to defend the flag, and all it represented.
