1 EMPLOYMENT OP WOMEN. . Speaking on the second reading of the . Factories Act Amendment in Hl9 House i of Representatives yesterday, Mr. T. E. Taylor (Christchurch North) expressed the opinion that it was time we forbade Chineso the right of employing femalo European labour. Ho an instance of a Chinese laundry proprietor who advertised for European girl labour and when inquiries were mads it was found that ho always employed ono or mora 3 European women in his laundry and that ; his character Was not above reproach. 1 He submitted it would not bo an.injus--1 bice to prevent Chinese emplojing Euro--3 pcan women. He did not see why wo should allow, white people to bo employed by people such as Chinese were and such as they invariably remained. Mr. C. 11. Paolo (Auckland West) also expressed himself against allowing Chinal" men to enuiloy female European labour, e Mr. G. W. Bussell (Avon) considered that in view of tho fact that one could not go into heroics, over the morality of the Chinosc and the absence of Chineso s women it was undesirable that whito f women should bo employed by them, t The lion.
