Feilding Notes. . Saturday was a. perfect day for the Feilding Tennis. Club's opening of •the new season.' Tea was. provided by the members of the committee, and was much appreciated by the players. Among those present were Mesdames Montgomery, Richmond, Walker, Hoult, Miles, Long, Finch..- (Wellington), Franco, (New Plymouth), Corfe,- Fry, Mackay, Misses Prior, Kirtoii, Wyatt,. Levien,' Bryce (Pfllmerston), Booth, Peat. Bruce (2), Messrs. Barton,. Graham, Fry,. Richmond, Montgomery, Maolellan, Corfe, and many ethers. Mrs. Gillespie has returned from Napier ant] Wellington.-. 1 Mrs. France (Nerc Plymouth) is staying at /the Denbigh Hotel. Mr. France is relieving, Mr. Glasgow (Union: Bank), who is away for a holiday. " • A strong -team of bowlers from Palmerston visited Feilding ■< on Saturday and captured the coveted Tates Feathers, which was held all last season "by, the Feilding, Club. The visitors greatly admired 'the pretty grounds and gijrdens, which are', looking beaiitiful just now. . • A large number of onlookers visited the Racecourse cricket matches on Saturday. Mesdames .'Mason and Francis provided very, enjoyable afternoon tea, which, the •.cricketers greatly appreciated.' Now that the examinations are over the students of Victoria .College liaye been free, to entertain themselves in "various ways. . La6t Friday being the finishing day of their trials, the'y gave a . concert and dance'at the College in the evening. On Saturday about thirty ,of them were present at a picnic at Breaker Bay, mid last evening Miss- Fell gave an evening for Miss Beriha Reeve, who leaves within the next day or two for . her home at Whangarei. . - • Miss Eileen Ward entertained a number of her friends at an impromptu dance at Aw.arua House last, evening; Mrs. Riddiford and Mr; :L. Riddiford intend leaving oil Friday for a trip to Sydney. . ... , ' An. enjoyable evening, was spent at the ■Nurses' Club, 237 Upper Willis Street, last evening, the occasion being the eve of Miss Craig'6 departure from Wellington, to Christchiirch. Bridge, , dancing, and a prettily-arranged supper (at which Miss Craig's health was honoured) filled in the hoiirs between eight and', midnight .charmingly. The two daughters of .Dj, r a'rd, the'conductor of the Sheffield-ClionT' will, accompany their father on next year's world's tour of the great musical organisation. 1 Miss Beatrice Day will be the leading lady with Mr. George; Willoughby's ■ Comedy Company, which commences atour of New Zealand at Auckland on Monday week: : ' Mrs. ; Denton, of Calcutta, a daughter of Mrs. Ross, of Oriental Bay, has arrived in Sydney, on her way to Wellington. Mrs. Ross and Miss Eliza Ross, who went across to meet Mrs. Denton, .will.return with her on Wednesday next.
